Abstract

Title:Shear compliance of highly-filled polymer composites
Abstract:
Characteristic properties of polymers such as ease of processing and low specific weight can be combined with unique properties of fillers that improve some of the disadvantages of polymers such as relatively low strength and stiffness. By adding metal particles, we can also influence the thermal, electrical and magnetic properties of polymers. The goal of this research is to study how different proportions and types of metal particles affect the shear creep of metal-polymer composites in the case of polypropylene matrix and spherical metal particles with a mass fraction of more than 30%. This research involves the preparation of samples with different proportions of metal particles (Al and Ti), the measurements of shear creep at different temperatures and the use of time-temperature superposition to predict the behavior of materials over time. Analysis of the results showed that the value of the shear creep compliance decreases with increasing particle concentration in the composite. As the concentration increases, the value of the modulus changes less over time - decreased time dependence. The composite thus has better time durability compared to the base polymeric material.
