Today, development of information and communication technology is on the rise, and thus more and more households are opting for home automation systems. The so-called smart or intelligent houses allow easy access to the installed systems, easy management, greater comfort and safety, as well as higher energy savings.
Therefore, we decided to modernize some of the domestic household systems using an affordable microcomputer Raspberry Pi, which integrates general-purpose input/output (GPIO) connectors used to connect the relays and receive measurements from sensors. In the scope of the presented diploma thesis we developed a system for wireless control of garage doors, outdoor fences, and automatic control of central heating and room lighting. The entire system can be managed remotely via a smartphone with a dedicated mobile application, which was created for the Android operating system in the Android Studio software environment. On the Raspberry Pi, we set up a server that accepts and executes commands sent from a smartphone over a wireless network.
