The purpose of our diploma thesis was to create two promotional packages for a company. In the theoretical part of the thesis, we explained the meaning of packaging and described the groups into which packaging can be divided. We described the functions of packaging and pointed out the ones significant from the marketing point of view.
We mentioned the criteria packaging materials have to meet when they are meant to be in contact with food and we more thoroughly described paper and board, which were later used as printing material for promotional products. We gave a quick introduction to the most important graphic elements used in designing: typography and colour. We described the meaning of brand and promotional gifts and we studied the factors crucial for buyer decision processes.
In the practical part of the thesis, we firstly listed some examples of promotional packaging products available in our country. Later on, we described the whole process of designing, starting with the idea and finishing with the printed matter. We designed promotional and at the same time aesthetic look of a praline gift box and a bag for skiing competition, both as promotional material for the iPLUS company. In the designing process, we had to consider the client’s wishes, the aspects of modern design, and make sure the theme of the design is consistent with the purpose of use and industry of the company. Motives on both designs are well chosen and based on the events and the season when packages were given. Logo of the company is well blended in the design, therefore, it increases aesthetics of the product and recognisability of the firm.
