Abstract
Tematika diplomske naloge prikazuje nevarnost pojavljanja meteoroloških pojavov striženja vetra in nevihtnega piša v letalstvu. Skozi diplomsko delo predstavimo različne vrste detektorskih sistemov, primerjamo njihove sposobnosti in lastnosti.

Title:Theoretical design and installation of wind shear and storm draft detectors at Jože Pučnik Airport
Abstract:
This diploma thesis presents the danger of occurrences of meteorological phenomena called wind shear and downbursts in aviation. It presents the importance of the role of ground based wind shear detection and alert systems in ensuring the safety of flying. In aviation, safety is always put in the first place. Through the thesis different types of detector systems are presented and their capabilities and properties compared. At the same time the influence of wind shear and strong downdrafts phenomena on safety of flying is presented. A closer look at how microbursts, which are part of thunderstorms downdrafts, affect the aircraft is also taken. In the second part, the thesis focuses on the occurrence of wind shear and microbursts at Jože Pučnik Airport. Through METAR weather reports, we see that wind shear most frequently occurs during the winter period, specifically in January and February. The analysis of airport's climate and geographical location, together with the results from frequency of phenomena, helped us to decide on choosing LIDAR detection system. The theoretical location of the system layout was determined based on the properties of the actual system from the manufacturer Leosphere, model WINDCUBE 200S. Finally, the most favorable location for the installation of the detector system was chosen at 600 meters from the threshold of the runway 30 towards southeast.
