Communication patterns, which enable other participants in communication to be taken into account grately contribute to development of constructive dialogue between coworkers or family members. Assertive behavior, which reflects in assertive communication gives the basis for more successful communication between employees, that`s why my focus in thesis is communication based on assertiveness.
The purpose of this thesis is to present communication and to get to know and understand the field of assertive behavior. The aim was to check how much the participants are familiar with the concept of assertiveness, whether they behave assertively in everyday situations and whether participants who use assertive communication are less involved in conflict situations, and thus show that the introduction of assertive training would gain skill , which brings satisfaction and discovers new dimensions of the view of communication in relationships with colleagues.
The research was conducted among employees using a survey questionnaire (Gaumer Erickson & Noonan, 2018). The research showed, that employees are familiar with the term of assertiveness and assertive communication.
Knowledge of the concept of assertiveness has been found to increase with age, but age does not affect communication strategies and attitudes toward assertiveness. The results confirmed the assumption that employees who behave assertively are significantly less involved in conflict situations. The research confirmed that assertive communication is one of the most optimal ways of communication and the suggestion to all organizations is to properly educate employees to use assertive communication through trainings or workshops and at the same time encourage assertive behavior.
