Work can put an individual under considerable pressure. Reoccurring pressure in the workplace can be determined by observing (recording) a work task, taking measurements about the working environment or by talking to an individual performing work. The main purpose of identifying pressure in the workplace is to prevent workers from being overburdened, which can have a negative impact on their well-being, health and effectiveness.
The aim of the master's thesis is to analyse pressure in the workplace of a moulding operator in the Talum Kidričevo company. I analysed the pressure that builds up as a result of a work task and the working environment as well as other forms of pressure that occur in the workplace.
With the help of measurements, calculations and analyses, I determined that workers in the studied workplace are under thermal, auditory and physical pressure. Based on the results of the survey the workers participated in, I determined that more than a half of workers are under pressure due to monotonous work and stress and that more than three quarters of workers feel pressure because of shift work.
Based on the determined forms of pressure in the workplace, I came up with suggestions for measures and improvements. In order to alleviate physical pressure in the workplace, I suggest different technical measures, such as the installation of a new work surface (with adjustable height), the installation of a lifting and tilting device, the attachment of a barrier for directing the product (mould) and the use of a pad below the work surface. When it comes to thermal pressure, I suggest the imposition of several organisational and technical measures, such as more frequent and longer breaks during working hours, less physical demands, reduced work intensity (if possible), more common room ventilation as well as the use of air conditioning and ventilating installations.
