Lexical strategies are important and efficient tools for learning vocabulary, especially in universities, where students are autonomous and have to master the lexical strategies.
The aim of this paper is to research the efficient learning strategies more frequently used by students of German.
The focus of this paper is developing lexical competence and choosing the right lexical strategies.
The results of the empirical research show that most students of German learn vocabulary unsystematic and often choose the easiest lexical strategies, which are known for memorizing new vocabulary faster.
Learning vocabulary in classes of foreign languages should be more relevant and taken in consideration. The learning strategies should be integrated into the learning process.
