The celebration of the centenary of the University of Ljubljana is a good opportunity to briefly review the position of Slavic Studies in Romania, past and present, of the place and role of the Slovene lectureship after 40 years of existence within the Department of Russian and Slavic Philology of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Bucharest, and last but not least of the cultural and academic relations between the two universities.
