The paper considers what is an appropriate, healthy, loving relationship between man and animal, as well as the effects of such a relationship on those involved. We often read about the unconditional love and trust of a dog for his human companion. We can make appropriate and acceptable use of these two virtues of a dog or abuse them, which brings consequences. The use of animals in various activities and therapies is examined, including the good and bad side of this. The excellent results of such activities and therapies involving animals are presented, as well as arguments as to why the company of animals is important to man.
