The Slovene idiom (biti) zaljubljen do ušes (up to one's ears in love), meaning' to (be) very much in love', is an example of a love idiom or idiom that expresses the feeling of love. Its construction is fixed, the idiomatic meaning transparent or partly motivated by the expressive connotations of its constituent parts. This idiom can be found particularly in journalistic texts in newspapers and magazines. This paper considers, on the basis of dictionary and corpus material, how the emotion of love is expressed in Slovene fixed multi-word expressions. Through analysis of language material, it is shown that Slovene love idioms often express types of sensual or physical love, i.e. eros.
