Abstract
V magistrskem delu sem se osredotočila na odnos vzgojiteljic in pomočnic predšolskih otrok ter staršev do raznolike kulture, ki med drugim vključuje tudi etnične predsodke in stereotipe. V teoretičnem delu sem predstavila pojem multikulturne družbe, predsodke in stereotipe, ter kako jih razvijajo, zanikajo in oblikujejo otroci, starši, vzgojiteljice in pomočnice predšolskih otrok. Poudarjam pomen vrtca, ki je primarno okolje, kjer se otrok v večini prvič sreča z drugačnostjo. V nadaljevanju pa sem večji poudarek dala pravljicam kot sredstvu za spodbujanje strpnosti. Empirični del magistrskega dela pa je opravljen na osnovi kvalitativne metode in hkrati eksplorativne raziskave. Namen raziskave je namreč bil ugotoviti, kakšen je pomen pravljic in koliko pozornosti ter na kakšen način se namenja raznoliki kulturi, predvsem skozi literaturo, v vrtcu in domačem okolju. Podatke sem pridobivala s pomočjo intervjujev z vzgojiteljicami in pomočnicami predšolskih otrok in s fokusnimi skupinami, kjer so sodelovale mamice.

Title:
The use of fairytales as an asset to encourage tolerance
Abstract:
The focus of this thesis is to study the attitude of preschool teachers and their assistants as well as the attitude of parents towards cultural diversity that integrates ethnic prejudices and stereotypes. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the concept of multicultural society, prejudices and stereotypes. The main focus is on how the children, parents, preschool teachers and their assistants develop, deny and form these prejudices and stereotypes. I emphasize the importance of kindergarten, which presents the primary environment in which a child encounters difference for the first time. Moreover, the thesis provides greater emphasis on fairy tales as a means of promoting tolerance. The empirical part of the thesis is based on the qualitative method and exploratory research. The main purpose of the research was to find out the meaning of fairy tales and how much attention and in what way it is given to cultural diversity, especially through literature in kindergarten and at home. I obtained data through interviews with preschool teachers and their assistants as well as through interviews with focus groups in which mothers participated.
