Even though Great Britain declared war on Germany already on September 3 1939, the civilians did not experience real war until the blitz. During the blitz, the German air force Luftwaffe bombarded London every day for more than nine months, and thus attempted to force Britain to surrender. The British were very well prepared for war on their native soil, and they had a high morale. This further hindered the plans of the Germans, and they eventually gave up on their plan to occupy Britain. They focused on other countries, especially the Soviet Union. Slovenian newspapers were also reporting on the German Third Reich’s aerial attacks of London. However, these newspapers were very subjective in their reporting, which was quite usual for wartime. This subjectivity was especially prominent when they got their sources from one of the countries involved, Britain, as well as Germany and Italy.
