The master thesis discuses book design in Slovenia. We also reviewed the predominant colours and the use of photos and illustrations in cover design. The thesis also looked at layout in order to find out whether in last ten years, publishers, by changing layout, started to increase the volume of published books in order to increase the retail prices. Research has shown that certain colours appear more often, be it due to the genre of the books, their content, or the design decisions of individual publishers. Publishers have quite different standards in terms of font size and line spacing. Similarly, some publishers are more likely to include ads for other books, which in turn increases the number of pages in the books.
