Abstract
Petr Janas, CSc. in Ing. Karel Janas (2016).

Title:
Analysis of yielding detail in closed steel supports for underground excavations in Velenje Coal Mine
Abstract:
The exploitation of lignite in Coal Mine Velenje is executed by long-wall method, which in widely known as the Velenje mining method (patent number 9500091) and features high productivity of underground coal extraction. Underground roadways are constructed in the rock mass that is very compressible in terms of mechanical properties. The support of mining roadways is deducted through closed steel yielding sets (TH29, TH34), which are arranged in the form of modified circular shape. The spacing between each steel set profile is inclined by the mechanical dynamics of surrounding rock mass. It affects the mining roadway support through the deformation on steel set segments. A referential section of a running meter of a mining roadway is used in engineering evaluation. Coal Mine Velenje uses an adjusted computer program to prove the stability of the mining roadways in coal seam. The authors of the program are doc. ing. Petr Janas and ing. Karel Janas. (17.) Experiences show an insufficiency in describing the detail of yielding of the steel set profiles, which can lead to unexpected deformations in the mining roadways. These can represent a hazard of the safety to workers and an additional cost for the company. The analysis of this detail is the main assessment of this master's thesis. The aim is to upgrade the model and provide more leverage in engineering evaluation in order to maintain the stability and the life spam of mining roadways in the future.
