The goal of this diploma thesis is to bring the ability of testing their fitness level closer to regular users by implementing a mobile application. Physical fitness VO2max is a measure for reaching the highest physical strain of a testee. Normative values VO2max differentiate depending on person's age and gender. The lower this value, the higher the risk for chronic illnesses.
The most reliable measurements of VO2max are held in laboratories under professional surveillance. A more user-friendly and accurate form of calculating the VO2max estimate are sports watches, which implement a special algorithm. They offer testing of a person's fitness with static tests (on an ergometer) or with outdoor tests.
Within the thesis, we implemented an algorithm for calculating VO2max in the Matlab programming language and an application for the Android platform in Java.
In doing so, we were inspired by the patented algorithm implemented by sports watches from Garmin and Suunto brands. In the theoretical part of the thesis, we wanted to bring the reader closer to the detailed procedure required to perform a fitness test.
