Type 1 diabetes is an unpredictable disease that can affect anyone. It is incurable and cannot be prevented. It usually affects children or young adults up to the age of 45.
When younger children get the disease, they at least partially participate in managing diabetes. Materials for children under 10 years of age must be adapted visually and in content in a way that they can understand it and not perceive as too demanding. This field lacks appropriate materials (eg. a brochure) to help children cope with the disease.
To this end, we have concentrated on the younger target group in this thesis and designed a brochure adapted for children up to 10 years of age. Strong colors should attract their attention so it will be easier for them to read and learn about type 1 diabetes. We have simplified the text and added simple illustrations.
In the theoretical part, we describe the problems of diabetes in detail, present a brochure and define the material and possible connections. Then we look for a possibility to design a brochure for the desired target audience. In the second, experimental part, we introduce software tools and describe the final product.
The result is a short brochure about type 1 diabetes for children, which is bound with metal buckles.
