Abstract

Title:Interpretation of archaeological heritage in situ: Case studies of archaeological areas of Poštela pri Mariboru and Cvinger pri Dolenjskih Toplicah.
Abstract:
The following work focuses on the interpretation of heritage, its significance and how it can be successfully applied to concrete cases. Heritage reflects the existence of a community, therefore it is important that the community participates in its interpretation. After the long reign of traditional museums, the second half of the 20th century saw the development of new approaches to the management and interpretation of heritage. The new public archaeology, new museology and the ecomuseums had the aim of preservation and conservation of heritage in its local environment and with the help of the local community. The Archaeological park is shown as a method of presentation, interpretation and management of archaeological heritage. The concept of an archaeological park is developed on the basis of theoretical discussion, study of existing policies and examples of presentations from Slovenia and abroad. The developed concept is tested on two archaeological sites in Slovenia, Poštela near Maribor and Cvinger near Dolenjske Toplice.
