International financial institutions operate globally and they include developments bank, whether from the international, regional or national field of work. Common to all is a wide range of expertise, instruments and the integration of public and private sector in achieving certain goals. As one of the actors they work with, assist and advise member states in formulating public policies and offer loans through which they provide countries access to funds. The purpose of this thesis is to present these actors on the international stage, especially in connection with their influences on Slovenia and its political process. The analysis will cover organizations that the Government of the Republic of Slovenia ranks among the most important in the international field of cooperation in the banking and finance sector. I will examine how can these organizations influence the policy process or the co-creation of public policies, what Slovenia’s membership in these organizations means for the country, the project they implement or participate in, and whether they have the power to shape them unilaterally and demand their implementation.
