Green areas have an important role in human life, as they have various positive benefits. On the other hand, their existence is increasingly threatened by built grey infrastructure. It is important to be aware of the importance of maintaining and properly managing green areas in urban areas. Šentjur is the most urbanised settlement in the municipality of Šentjur. Here are concentrated various industrial and business activities. As a result, the quality of green areas can be significantly reduced due to the impact of infrastructure that is dedicated to all those activities. In the master´s thesis we evaluated green areas based on selected geographic and ecological indicators, i.e. structural and locational indicators, biodiversity indicators and indicators of their equipment and tidiness. We also conducted a survey among residents of Šentjur municipality and among users of green areas in Šentjur. The results of the survey helped us to evaluate green spaces in Šentjur.
