Abstract
Diplomsko delo zajema potovanja L. F. Marsiglija od leta 1679, ko se je prvič odpravil v Istanbul, do končne razmejitve demarkacijske črte po pogodbi v Sremskih Karlovcih leta 1701. V prvih poglavjih so predstavljeni konflikti 17. stoletja, Marsiglijev začetek in njegova vloga v cesarski vojski, obleganje Dunaja, Marsiglijevo ujetništvo in habsburško napredovanje na osmanski del Ogrske. V osrednjem delu je predstavljeno bojevanje na Balkanu, habsburški uspehi, upori balkanskih ljudstev in bitke med leti 1685–1697. Ob vojaškem dogajanju je opisano Marsiglijevo raziskovanje Podonavja in njegova tajna diplomatska vloga v letih 1691–1693. V zaključku pa so predstavljeni konec vojne in vojaških spopadov, mirovni sporazum, demarkacijska odprava, nadaljnje Marsiglijevo ustvarjanje in njegova knjižnica.

Title:Luigi Ferdinando Marsigli's Activity in the Great Turkish war
Abstract:
The diploma thesis contains L. F. Marsigli's journey from 1679, when he visits Istanbul for the first time, till the last act of demarcation in 1701, following the Karlowitz treaty. The thesis starts with a presentation of 17th-century conflicts, Marsigli's early life and his role in imperial army, the siege of Vienna, Marsigli's captivity, and Habsburg advance to Ottoman Hungary. The main part deals with the fighting in the Balkans, Habsburg victories, rebellions of the Balkan peoples and warfare in 1685¬¬¬¬¬–1697. This includes also Marsigli's research of the Danube river basin and his diplomatic mission in 1691–1693. The syntesis concludes with the end of warfare, peace negotiations, demarcation expedition, Marsigli's further opus and his library.
