France Bevk wrote more than 160 literary works for adults, children and youth. Among these works, I chose three stories: Lukec in njegov škorec (1931), Pesterna (1939) and Peter Klepec (1956) and discussed them in greater detail. The diploma thesis includes a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical part, I will present the life and work of France Bevk, as well as the types and meaning of the values that characterize the works in question. In the empirical part, the main components of the considered stories are described by means of literary analysis. With reference to the relevant professional literature, I will compare the notion of childhood at the turn of the 19th and of the 20th century, respectively,using Bevk's autobiography Moja mladost (1969) as a starting point.
