The master's thesis analyzes the possibilities of typological models for the web portal of Slovenian public libraries Dobrenjige.si. The purpose of this work is to establish an effective typological model, as an efficient and meaningful categorization of fiction is key to the optimal operation of the portal. Only as such can a portal offer it´s users a quality service. Interdisciplinary research was conducted in several steps. The first step presents the portal and describes the ways of browsing and searching for genres that already exist on the portal. The analysis includes a comparison of the situation on the portal in August 2018 and March 2020. The second step is a review of the categorization of fiction in the library profession, with an emphasis on the use of the Universal Decimal Classification. The third step is a comparison with the categorization of fiction in literary theory and history, followed by the presented corrections for the portal and the proposed scheme for categorizing the book works included on the portal. Thesis is concluded by the listed criteria for all the above categories, which will help librarians in categorizing literary works.
