In the master's thesis, the use of building information modeling (BIM) for the case of the planned Brežice bypass is analysed, based on a previously prepared project execution plan. The possibility of using individual programs BIM for civil engineering design has been studied. The principles of operation of tools and the possibilities of data exchange are given. The advantages and disadvantages of the use of BIM in general and in infrastructure facilities are presented. The practical example of the Brežice bypass describes the process of designing a 3D model of road elements, traffic signalization and drainage system in detail. The model was designed with the help of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Plateia and Sewer + software. Special attention was also paid to assigning information to individual building blocks with the help of property sets. The export of the model to an IFC file is presented, which allows an overview of the informationequipped 3D model. The use of the Dalux common data environment is described, which is intended for data exchange and project coordination during project execution.
