Abstract

Title:Main soil types on Ljubljansko barje (Ljubljana moor)
Abstract:
The Ljubljana moor is a swampy area in a tectonic intrusion between the Alpine and Dinaric territory, which was formed under many geophysical processes and weather conditions. It is an ameliorative area important for agriculture, so there is a need for systematic investigations to help us to understand its hydrological nature. At first glance, the level terrain has a varied relief, sprinkled with small hills and intrusions, which influenced the development of automorphic and hydromorphic soils. Numerous descriptions of soil types throughout history have been made according to different classification systems. The diploma describes 5 automorphic and 10 hydromorphic main soil types that occur in the moor. Soil types, together with examples of soil descriptions, were defined on the current version of the Slovenian Soil Classification and the International soil classification system for naming soils and creating legends for soil maps (Mednarodna klasifikacija ..., 2015).
