In my diploma thesis I research and analyse waste management in Izola. I have presented the basic waste management, legislation, described public – sector company Komunala Izola d.o.o., responsible for waste management in the selected area and presented some guidelines for handeling. I have gained a lot of konwledge in the field of waste handeling, ecology and logistics, all of which will come very helpful form y future work.
From my research I can conclude Slovenian Environment Agency is responsible for enviromental issues in Slovenia and that in Izola the company Komunala Izola d.o.o. is authorized for waste management. Waste, collected in Izola, is recycled. Izola has a distinctive landscape and seasonal fluctuations. Due to narrow streets and tight spacess the access to the old city center is difficult, while there are large distances between waste collection points in the city center is difficult, while the countrysidenhas large distances between waste collecting points. Izola is mainly a turistic city, which results in is a large amount of waste in during turistic season. Logistics is highly important in waste collection. We can therefore conclude that waste management is a complex yet important ascpect for our future.
