Abstract

Title:REGENERATION ECOLOGY OF BLACK LOCUST (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) IN THE DOLENJSKA REGION MANAGED FORESTS
Abstract:
Robinia is one of the most invasive alien tree species in Slovenia and Europe. The diploma thesis is presenting robinia in Dolenjska region.Three areas in the municipality of Sevnica were explored, thus presenting how invasive and spread the species is. We analysed the regeneration of robinia in commercial forests in the Dolenjska region. We have come to the conclusion that robinia is most intensively expanding to areas where canopy was removed due to the natural disturbances. In areas where canopy is more closed, robinia was not present. Due to the presence of seed trees, robinia was also observed at a distance of more than 60 meters from the parent stand. In the managed forests of the Dolenjska region, no pure observed. Appropriate silvicultural measures would allow the robina to be controlled, which is far more feasible in state forests than in private forest.
