Online social networks have become very popular in recent years, especially among the younger generation, who use them on a daily basis. Said social networks are applications, online services and web pages that allow users to socialize and share thoughts, ideas and activities. In this paper I am interested in how children with mild intelactual disabilities use online social networks and which challenges and opportunities they are faced with when using them. I focus on three most widely used netoworks among youth: Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook. The method used in the paper is in-depth interview; I conducted ten such interviews, five with children with mild intelectual disabilities and five with their parents. Results show that such children use online social networks chiefly to communicate with existing friends and less so to meet new ones.
