In my thesis I will focus on environmental issues related to the production, use, processing and destruction of plastics in the European Union in Slovenia. In the analysis, I will rely on the theory of environmental discourses to help me connect two different aspects of the chosen problem; namely political and economic. Environmental issues are often understood only as a problem that arises in a specific place and needs to be solved, often forgetting that the origin of the problem is not necessarily just current pollution, but is related to the entire chain through which waste is generated. In this paper, I will therefore focus on all areas that have been related to plastics and environmental pollution. I will find the motive behind the existing legislation in accordance with the rules of the European Union in Slovenia in the field of plastic management.
