The BA thesis describes a way of improoving the user experience of the system for protection of spliced fiber optics. The presented solution simplifies the work of electricians, who are daily in contact with this sort of systems.
The existing fiber optics closure, type FDN HellermannTyton, is improoved by redesigning and optimization of splice tray system, their fixation points and supporting element.
At the beginin of the thesis is the research-analytical phase. It studies the history of optical communications and composition of fibre optics. There is a detailed analysis of fibre optic closure and its components. Described is also the user experience of electricians at work in the field of which the information was gathered by the research method Shadowing and talking to electricians. In the conceptual phase are shown the ful design proces, from synthesis to the end product. In the en, there is a comparrison between the existing fibre optic closure and the improoved one. This is done by describing of separate elements and their functioning.
