The contemporary spatial processes transformed the once rural area to urban. Density of settlement is increasing in the municipality Škofljica, which is increasing pressures on the environment and increasing problems of economic infrastructure investitures. Demographics is showing, that municipality has relative young population. For municipality Škofljica, infrastructural and economic growth is anticipated. Part of an area belongs to the environmental protection area Natura 2000. The municipality of Škofljica has much cultural and natural legacy, that transformed cultural landscape throughout history. The main problems of municipality Škofljica are traffic congestion, placing of infrastructure in an environmentally vulnerable place and low coverage of sewerage. With new municipal spatial plan, it is advocating sustainable development.
