Abstract
Preiskovanci, vključeni v večino raziskav, so bili poklicni hokejisti. Najpogostejše poškodbe hokejistov so bile poškodbe glave. Hokejistke so imele najpogosteje poškodovan spodnji ud. Najpogosteje so bili poškodovani napadalci. Pri obeh spolih so prevladovale kontaktne poškodbe.

Title:
Musculo-skeletal injuries in ice-hockey: literature review : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: We can define sports injuries as acute or overuse. They must be statistically reviewed to improve our understanding and the prevention of injuries. Ice hockey has one of the highest injury rates amongst sports.. Purpose: The purpose of this diploma work is to do a literature review of the musculo-skeletal injuries of ice-hockey players (man and women). Methods: Methodology of this diploma work is a review of literature regarding musculo-skeletal injuries in ice-hockey. Literature search was done in PubMed. Results: Eight studies were included into the review. Subjects of studies were mostly professional male hockey players. The head was the most injured body part of men. Women had the highest rate of lower body injuries. Offence players were injured most often. Contact injuries had the highest rate in both genders. Serious injuries were not common and most of the injuries did not require surgery. Most injuries did not cause absence from sport participation, in fact most of the injured were back after just a month. Discussion and conclusion: The injury severity is mostly measured with the loss of time, but it would be more suitable to measure the influence of an injury on athletes’ function or physical performance. We had difficulties comparing studies because of a disunity in injury definitions. A better quality of epidemiological work could be reached by unity in the injury rate data bases. We do not trust in data about women’ injuries with the same certainty as in men’. Giving the rising number of active women in ice-hockey there is a need for a higher number and standard of women-based studies. Literature review is exposing flaws in current research methods and where the highest rates of Musculo-skeletal injuries currently stand, which influences preventive programs and the evolution of sport.
