Abstract
Spremenjeno varnostno okolje je v preteklosti pripomoglo k oblikovanju trenda transformacije tipa popolnjevanja oboroženih sil. V zvezi NATO danes prevladujeta dva tipa popolnjevanja, in sicer obvezniško in poklicno popolnjevanje. V diplomskem delu so predstavljene in analizirane sodobne značilnosti popolnjevanja posamezne države članice.

Title:Analysis of armed forces manning practices in NATO member states on the case of Slovenia
Abstract:
The changed security environment has helped shape the trend of transforming the type of manning of the armed forces in the past. In NATO alliance, two types of recruitment predominate, namely compulsory recruitment and all-volunteer recruitment. In Diploma Thesis, the contemporary recruitment characteristics of all member states are presented and analysed. Despite the re-emergence of the idea of conscription in the public discourse of some countries, the vast majority of countries still use all-volunteer manning for their armed forces. The biggest challenge for a professional army is to provide and retain the necessary staff and competitiveness in the labour market, while in the conscription army the problem is the lack of democracy and illegitimacy in the eyes of the public. The Republic of Slovenia has an all-volunteer army. In the discussions, which are taking place in Slovenia regarding military recruitment, it is necessary to take into an account various aspects of several important factors.

Keywords:manning the armed forces, recruitment, NATO alliance, conscription, all-volunteer army.
