The diploma thesis investigates the area of frequency reserve. Various battery storage technologies are presented. The SINCRO.GRID project is generally described. In addition, indicators for electric energy storage systems are presented which give the information about the state of health for those storage systems, where the emphasis is placed to the large storage systems.
ELES is the system operator of the electricity transmission network in the Republic of Slovenia. It is responsible for the reliable operation of the transmission network and the electric power system (EES) and for the reliable and secure supply of electric energy at all times. To compensate all possible deviations, the system operator uses the system service control of active power and frequency provided by larger conventional power plants. In the field of secondary frequency control, Slovenian operators are mainly faced with the insufficient quantity of system resources, which also means poorer quality of implementation of this system service. Electric energy storage is one of the possible solutions in the control of active power. In the case of a higher frequency, the electric energy storage stores excess energy and, in the absence of electric energy and power in the power system, transfers the stored energy back to the power system.
