Abstract
Diplomska naloga predstavlja družbeni odnos do žensk v politiki oziroma razvoj političnih pravic žensk na območju nekdanje Jugoslavije in Slovenije.

Title:THE POLITICAL ROLE OF WOMEN IN YUGOSLAVIA AND SLOVENIA
Abstract:
This diploma thesis presents the social relations towards women in politics or rather the development of their political rights in area of Yugoslavia then and Slovenia now. It focuses on acquiring their rights and on the environment of those developments. The key consequential troubles that appear out the topic in front of us are representation of woman in politics and in public life, insufficient representation of women in power, especially on high power positions and gender inequality, which is in its reconfigured way still present and a constant reminder of past ideological guidelines. But it should be emphasized that this topic is talked about much more and louder in the recent years. This thesis analyzes political representation of women in time, when man is still symbolically and actually the carrier of major political decisions. Historical, social in the political dimension of gaining and developing status of women, represents the framework from which the new model of gender equality is developing. Feminism serves us to understand all historical shifts while at the same time represents inequality in all aspects of social life. With the help of a comparative analysis between the period of Yugoslavia and the current situation, changes in the representation of women in politics are outlined. The analysis of statistical data of Slovenian, Croatian and Serbian countries, i.e. former members of Yugoslavia during the parliamentary elections in their transition periods and today, serves to help test our hypotheses and to deepen the understanding of the whirlwind struggle for equality.

Keywords:feminism, women, politics, gender equality, Yugoslavia, Slovenia, elections.
