In the thesis we present the structure of smart valves, their characteristics, the way the valve is operated by the user and the way the smart valve communicates with the outside world. When describing individual units, we pay special attention to the input units (sensors) and the process unit. The latter is the reason why we call the presented valves "smart". A major emphasis is given to automatic control which is one of the most distinguished characteristics of smart valves. Smart valves communicate via the numerous communication protocols in real time, data can be also transmitted via wireless networks. Various communication possibilities, data management, numerous sensors and precise automated control are one of the main advantages of smart vales against the classic ones.
