Treatment with the abrasive water jet cutter is one of the unconventional technologies. In the process, an abrasive is added to the cutting head. There, the high-speed water jet accelerates the abrasive. Due to the high energy of the abrasive particles and water, various materials can be processed this way. The main advantage of this method of treatment is that it does not leave a heat-affected zone on the workpiece. Surface quality is affected by several parameters. In this work, we focus on the abrasive delivery process, more precisely on the abrasive mass flow itself. By changing the path along which the abrasive travels to the mixing chamber, changes in mass flow were observed. Based on the measurement results, we then evaluated the appropriate conditions for constant mass flow. We also touched upon the effects of abrasive properties on the abrasive flow itself.
