Due to constant technological progress and fashion innovations, new products and services are continuously coming to the market. Although our own products are still working and functional, we are always looking for new, better ones. This altogether leads to huge amounts of waste accumulating on our planet. The environmental issues we face every day have led me to look for alternative techniques and materials that can be used in printmaking.
The primary theme of the thesis is environmental education for sustainable development. In the field of textiles, consumerism is highly developed and the offer on the market far exceeds the needs. In my research, the main material I used in making my own product, was textiles, which will be recycled and intended for reuse. The field of art I focused on is printmaking, for which I tried different waste materials and types of fabric paint.
Environmental issues need to be presented to children from an early age on so they can think and talk about them. Pupils in school can be introduced to various ecological problems we are facing in the present through practice of art pedagogy, where I focused on the subject of art in primary school. The development of ecological sensitivity with students can be achieved in fine arts in several ways, which I have researched and also described. I have listed some solutions for developing ecological awareness in educational processes with students and ways to introduce alternative materials and techniques into art lessons.
