In this thesis, I wanted to show the benefits of using augmented reality for learning and improving memory. Augmented reality is becoming more widespread and accessible and will soon be part of everyday processes such as learning. AR technology has the ability to upgrade and enrich the real world as it offers an augmented display with elements such as visual, auditory, 3D and interactive content that upgrade the written text.
I the theoretical part, I described the concept of augmented reality, listed some user interfaces and ways of interaction, and focused on the role of augmented reality in education, the benefits it brings and the limitations to consider in development.
In the practical part, with the help of Unity and Vuforia tools, I created an augmented reality application »augmented paper« for mobile devices, which upgrades the written material, enriches it and enables interaction. The tools I have used are among the most commonly used in augmented reality technologies and provide good detection and tracking of the image targets needed to display the augmented content. Image targets are structures that allow the placement of virtual objects in a 3D real environment. At the end, there are some examples of using the application and the benefits it can bring to learning.
