This thesis deals with the impact of the Senovo mine on family life since the beginning of the 20th century to date. The start of the mining activity extends more than two hundred years ago, in the year 1796, and with minor interruptions the coal in this area was dug up until 1995 when the closing process began. At the turn of the 20th century, the mine was an important factor in the development of infrastructure, which allowed the immigration of the new workforce, which took care of the flourishing of life in Senovo. Based on the analysis of archival material and oral resources, the diploma thesis presents the impact of mine on the situation in which the mining family lived, their health, everyday life and leisure of miners and their families. It also takes into account the social aspect of the mine or in other words its contribution to improving the quality of life – from the construction of new buildings, scholarships, schooling, training through courses, the care of plumbing in Senovo to care for the disabled and their employment in the mine.
