This thesis presents an anthropological approach to researching stereotypes in the context of tourism. It addresses the question of the circumstances in which such stereotypes emerge, what function they perform and which are their consequences. The first part of the thesis presents the basic theory and methodology used in the anthropological study of tourism, and the second part of the thesis uses these starting points on a practical example. The starting point of the diploma thesis is the relationship between guests and hosts, namely between South Korean tourists who play the role of guests, and Slovenian tourism workers and residents of Slovenia who play the role of hosts. Through interviews and questionnaires, the work deals with the content of stereotypes, their origin and their impact on the tourist experience and the perceptions that these actors have about each other.
