The thesis is based on literature on electircal contacts and the technology of electrical IDC contacts. It presents the prinicples of insulation displacement contacts (IDC), their advantages and limitations. In the experimental part of thesis it is shown if after certain temeprature tests comes to a significant change in the electrical resistance between the conductor and the contact, or not. The sample pieces were designed for two existing applications of a electrical water pump for cooling drive motor or electric batteries in electrical and hybrid vehicles and on an application of electric oil pump for lubrication and cooling of automatic gearboxes. Electrical resistance measurement were performed on the sample pieces before the start of the tests, and then the same after each test was finished. Based on the measurements, the reliability of the IDC-contacts was confirmed or refuted. The experimental also presents a cost comparison in the transition from the use of conventional eletrical contacts to IDC-contacts.
