Abstract
Edinstvene lastnosti titanovih zlitin, kot je visoka trdnost, nizka teža in nizka gostota, so zlitino naredile kot zelo uporaben material pri izdelavi izpušnih sistemov. Zlitine segajo od CP (komercialno čistega) titana do alfa/beta in beta titanovih zlitin. CP titan ali njegove modificirane zlitine se uspešno uporabljajo za izpušne cevi in dušilce tako avtomobilov kot motociklov. V zaključni nalogi je predstavljen proces varjenja izpušnega sistema iz titanovih zlitin in lastnosti zvarnih spojev. Predstavljen je proces varjenja in končni produkt krivine izpušnega sistema od začetka do konca. Opisane so različne titanove zlitine in njene lastnosti ter primerjava različnih tehnologij varjenja. Na koncu varjenja se zvar pregleda, če ta zadostuje standardom in kakovosti z neporušnimi metodami testiranja kakovosti zvarnih spojev. Ugotovili smo, da je titan zelo reaktivna kovina in dovzetna na kontaminacije iz ozračja, zato moramo biti pri njegovem varjenju še posebej previdni. Kakšna stopnja kontaminacije je prisotna, se na titanu lepo vidi po obarvanosti zvara. Zvarni spoj brez kontaminacije je bleščeče srebrne barve, v kolikor pa je zvar drugačne obarvanosti, je prisotna kontaminacija, ki jo je potrebno odstraniti.

Title:Welding of titanium and titanium alloys as the fabrication of the exhaust system
Abstract:
The unique properties of titanium alloy, such as high strength, low weight, and low density, have made the titanium alloy a very useful material in the manufacture of exhaust systems. Alloys range from CP (commercially pure) titanium to alpha/beta and beta titanium alloys. CP titanium or its modified alloys are successfully used for exhaust pipes and mufflers in the motorcycle industry as well as in the car industry. The final thesis presents the process of welding the exhaust system from titanium alloys and the properties of welded joints. The welding process and the hand welded expansion chamber, from start to finish are presented. Different titanium alloys and their properties and a comparison of different welding technologies are described. At the end of welding, the weld is inspected if it meets the standards and quality, with non-destructive testing methods that check the quality of welded joints. We have found that titanium is a highly reactive metal and susceptible to atmospheric contamination, so we must be especially careful when welding it. What degree of contamination is present on titanium is nicely seen by the color of the weld. The weld without contamination is shiny silver, but if the weld is of a different color, there is contamination that needs to be removed.
