In bachelor thesis we evaluate wear resistance of different materials when processed with abrasive flow machining (AFM) technique, that are predominantly used in 3D printing. In the theoretical part we first describe in detail different 3D printing techniques and used
polymer filaments. We continue with the description of the abrasive flow machining (AFM)
technique and 3D optical measurement device, that is used for wear resistance results and their evaluation. In our experimental work, we performed multiple tests, where we were observing wear resistance with the 3D measuring device of different materials (ABS, PLA, PET, ONYX) that are used for 3D printing of routing inserts and later processed with AFM technique. We also performed cost analysis of the used polymer filaments and concluded
that the most wear resistant element in our experiments - ONYX (NYLON), also presents the most expensive material and that the price-performance trade-off needs to be considered.
