Packaging plays an essential role in product protection and distribution as well as in choice and decission of the buyer. Its role nowdays has increased, sometimes it is even more important than the product itself. The important things about it are that it is useful, simple, of good quality and especially environment friendly. The aim of this diploma is to learn more about eco design, about requests and recommendations and to make eco packaging for notebook Vivir. Design and production guidelines will be based on eco design. There are some additions added to the diploma which are included with the notebook in its packaging.
Diploma is devided into three sections which are theoretical, experimental and section for discussion and findings. Theoretical section contains description of the packaging, procedure, its functions, cost and materials. There is also some information about slovenian and foreign market. In addition the company Vivir is represented.
In experimental section we presented the initial ideas as well as sketches of packaging and accessories. We have described the packaging materials used, the design procedures, the usability of Adobe Illustrator and Engview Package and Disaplat Designer. In the last section the designs of finished products are presented.
The aim of the diploma thesis was to design and produce packaging for the notebook, which will represent eco-design at all levels. This means using as little waste material, printed surfaces and harmful additives as possible. In addition to the notebook, we also designed accessories such as stickers and a Vivir bookmark, which will help in better organization. With the newly designed packaging, graphic products will be protected during transport and it will increase its sales function.
