In this diploma we researched whether we could create a hybrid of 2D and 3D graphics in animation. We created an animation in which this researched was put into practice. In the theoretical part, we examined the two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphics in animation and explained how we can achieve a 3D look of 2D graphics and vice versa, also described technical elements which we can use to get to the desired visual effect. We presented computer software used for individual technique and used it in the experimental part of the thesis. When working on the animation we divided the whole process into different parts, pre-production, production and post-production for easier and more understanding designing process. In doing so, we considered the prior research, before the animation itself, so we could achieve the desired product, in which we combined 2D and 3D elements and tried to achieve complete cooperation between them. Before we started animating, we wrote a synopsis, planned the story with a storyboard and sketched the appearance of the characters who will be animated in the story. We created the characters in Adobe Illustrator, the background was modeled and textured in Blender, we animated characters in Adobe After Effects and combined everything together with sound in Adobe Premiere Pro. The final product is a short animation with a two-dimensional appearance, although the production involved a large part of three-dimensional graphics.
