Izvleček
V diplomskem delu primerjamo logotip Univerze v Ljubljani (UL) z logotipi svetovno znanih univerz. Teoretični del obsega definicijo celostne grafične podobe in opis njenih glavnih elementov. Predvsem je poudarek na logotipu in elementih, povezanih z njim. Nato sledi opis logotipa UL in pet logotipov svetovno znanih univerz, in sicer: Univerza Oxford, Univerza Harvard, Univerza Stanford, Univerza Cambridge in Tehnološki inštitut Massachusetts. V sklopu eksperimentalnega dela smo ustvarili spletno anketo, s pomočjo katere smo pridobili informacije udeležencev o izbranih logotipih univerz. Na podlagi teh smo pridobili tudi uporabne informacije o trenutnem logotipu UL in smernice o njegovi možnosti prenove. Naš cilj je bil predvsem izvedeti, ali se lahko logotip UL primerja z ostalimi logotipi univerz po svetu, ter pridobiti nekaj usmeritev za njegovo morebitno spremembo. S tem namenom smo v analizi primerjali vse pridobljene podatke iz spletne ankete, temu pa je sledila še splošna primerjava izbranih logotipov univerz. Ta je temeljila na subjektivni oceni in splošni teoriji, ki smo jo predstavili v teoretičnem delu. S pomočjo ankete in raziskovanja logotipov univerz smo prišli do zaključka, da logotip UL v primerjavi z ostalimi univerzami vizualno ni slabo zasnovan, vendar bi ga bilo potrebno nekoliko spremeniti in nadgraditi. To bi storili z namenom, da bi bil logotip bolj viden, izstopajoč in primernejši za današnje potrebe. Vseeno pa bi moral še vedno temeljiti na sliki stavbe in rdeči barvi, kajti to sta glavna elementa, ki sta se javnosti že vtisnila v spomin.

Naslov:Logotype comparison between University of Ljubljana and foreign universities

In the diploma thesis, we compare the logo of the University of Ljubljana with a logo of foreign universities. The theoretical part includes the definition of corporate identity and description of its key elements, with the focus on the logotype and its components. This is followed by in-depth description the logo of the University of Ljubljana and five logos of world-famous universities, which are: Harvard University, Stanford University, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge and Institute of Technology Massachusetts. The experimental part was based on our web survey, which allowed us to collect and analyse subjective feedback. The survey helped us get insights about current UL logo and suggestions about its possible future refresh. Besides this, our primary goal was also to find out whether this logo is compreheded on the same level as others. In the analysis, we compared all the received data from the survey, which is followed by a general comparison of our subjects – all six logos. This was based on subjective assessment and general theory, presented in the theoretical part. Through the survey and research of university logos, we concluded that the logo of the University of Ljubljana does not lack in comparison to other universities, however, its base would need to be slightly changed and upgraded. This would make it stand out more and be more visible, in addition to being a better fit for today’s needs. But the changed logo should still be based on the current image of the building and red color, as these are two main elements which are already imprinted in the memory of the public.
