The frequent mobility and complexity of the migration pattern, its impact on society, the country and on migrants themselves have made migration an increasingly topical issue and a priority for most countries.
The purpose of the master's thesis is to study the social models of Sweden and Slovenia in relation to migration and their socio-economic effects. The objectives are four: to define the main characteristics of the social models of Sweden and Slovenia and identify the differences between them and present the possibility of introducing good practices in Slovenia; to study the relationship between migration and the welfare state and to highlight the socio-economic effects of migration; to compare statistical data in the time period of six years and to compare the latest available indices of integration of migrants and integration policies in the case of Sweden and Slovenia.
We reject both hypotheses because of the negative impact of migration in certain areas of the social and economic sphere, and consequently on the weakening of the recognizable Swedish welfare model and a slightly lower level of migrant integration in social life. The Swedish welfare state, as one of the best examples of social welfare in Europe, now faces the question of how to live in an increasingly diversified society and how to maintain a high level of welfare state and the well-being of all people with such strong migration flows. The integration of migrants in Slovenia and the effects of migration on the Slovenian welfare state were much better in some areas than in Sweden, but nevertheless the country can learn a lot from Sweden, especially in the fight against national discrimination and social benefits..
