Abstract

Title:
Recidivism of Women prisoners in prison Ig
Abstract:
The main topic of the thesis is the reoffending of female prisoners. I am interested in their life stories, how they ended up in prison, as well as the most influential factors that contributed to their reoffending since according to certain data, more than 50% of female prisoners are reoffending prisoners.Furthermore, I am also interested in the influence of social worker in prison and how it works towards enabling the re-entrance of female prisoners back into the social net outside prison – do they organize any special activities, round tables for the prisoners who are about to be released out of prison. Besides, I would also like to see the main factors of unproblematic transition for prison to freedom and if the probation service functions accurately. Before starting writing my thesis, I got a permission for conducting interviews from a member of social service, Ms. Muren. We have agreed to conduct four interviews with female reoffenders with different backgrounds. The fact of knowing the reoffenders from before was helpful and it enabled me to anticipate and choose the ones with whom I would carry out the interviews best and without bigger problems. My key conclusions are that there are not enough social workers as well as other professional workers employed in the prison who can offer its professional help to all prisoners. However, I have noticed that the employees put effort in offering the most quality time to the prisoners by implementing different activities. Lastly, I discovered that reoffending is still an enormous problem since there are many female prisoners who are left completely alone and unprepared once they are released out of prison.
