With a rapid dispersal, invasive alien species cause more and more damage on ecosystems, economy and human society. They often grow mainly in functionally degraded areas, where such plants can spread spontaneously due to abandoned use.
This task describes characteristics of invasive species and their population dynamics. However, it mostly presents the expansion of these species on functionally degraded areas. In research we have studied the growth of invasive species on individual degraded areas. These areas have previously been identified as potential focus for invasive species growth. With two field surveys, we sought to identify the spread and differences in the growth of invasive species on the chosen functionally degraded areas in the period between the two censuses.
