Abstract
Diplomsko delo sodi v širši problem pomanjkanja pitne vode, ki bo z naraščanjem prebivalstva in posledično vedno večjo porabo in osnaženostjo vode postal še večji.

Title:Immobilization of CuO photocatalyst
Abstract:
Diploma thesis falls in the area of water shortage problem. This problem will only keep getting worse because of population growth. The solution to the problem can be CuO photocatalyst. There are many already existing processes for water purification, but copper oxide is an excellent alternative to the already established catalysts, because it provides some unique characteristics. In the theoretical part of the thesis, I focused on ways how to make a better photocatalyst and to achieve its maximum. The experimental part contains a description of efficient immobilization of CuO on aluminium oxide pellets. I tested the effect of photooxidation on organic dye Plasmacorinth B contaminant in aqueous solution. Description of both types of reactors used in testing are included. I examined copper oxide nanostructure with the help of scanning electron microscope. The image with high magnification showed small particles and large surface area.
